Inclusion of under Privileged in the main stream

Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University named after the architect of Constitution of India has the distinction of mainstreaming the marginalised community as its objectives. The Academic Ordinance provides for the 50% reservation of SC/ST students in each course of the university. With this aim the university works through various cells/sections:

SC/ST Cell: this cell is to ensure that adequate representation is given to SC/ST candidates in admission in various courses of studies and also to ensure effective implementation of the reservation policies. This cell not only provides assistance to the SC/ST students in the matter of admissions but also monitors the implementation thereof. The cell also takes the responsibility in the improvement of overall performance of the students in the competitive examinations to bring them up to the general level as compared to other Communities. The cell provides information on fellowships and other incentives. The Cell collects and furnishes the statistical data and other information as quickly as possible to the concerned bodies.

The cell works on the following matters:

  1. Under the UGC sponsored Remedial Coaching Programme (RCP), the SC/ST/OBC/Minority students are given free coaching for UGC/CSIR/ICAR NET and Computer Training, Spoken & Communication skill development etc.

  2. Financial assistance is being provided to the SC/ST students at PG and Ph.D. level for the preparation of dissertation, Ph.D. thesis along with PG students for Study tour.

  3. Separate Gold Medal is being provided to the topper among SC/ST students in each department to encourage the students of these categories.

  4. Students, faculty, staff belonging to marginalized group can approach the Cell for redressal of any grievance(s) regarding academic, administrative or social problems. The Cell makes efforts and takes necessary action to solve their problems.

  5. SC/ST cell facilitates the students for post matric scholarship and fee reimbursement online applications.

    • Remedial Coaching Academy and Remedial Coaching Programme: The university has Remedial Coaching Academy and Remedial Coaching Programme for the upliftment of students of SC/ST.

    • Equal Opportunity Cell: The University has established an Equal Opportunity Cell for persons belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, other Backward Class and other minorities in order to enhance their employability and success.

    • Centre for the study of social exclusion and inclusive policy (CSSEIP):

      1. To promote advanced knowledge by providing instructional and research facilities for integrated courses in Science and key frontier areas of Technology and other allied disciplines and to offer appropriate courses.

      2. To promote the study of the principles for which Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar worked during his lifetime, namely, national integration, social justice and democratic way of life and also study of the Constitution of the World.

      3. To pay special attention to its credo of providing Vanchitam Sechanam Dharmah (Nurture the deprived), thereby promoting the educational and economic interests, welfare of the people in general and members belonging to the SC/ST in particular.

Hence the University maintains its institutional distinctiveness in the country by mainstreaming the marginalized groups through inclusion.
